Due to the “Summer Recess” there have been few meetings, hence the two week slot.

24th   The day I got the results of my blood tests for my annual health check-up and surprise, surprise I appear to be very fit!!   I wonder for how long?

26th   The only meeting this week  was with the Deputy Chief Executive of the City Council, Darren Crossley, when the Conservative Councillors asked for an update on the refurbishment of the ground floor of the Civic Centre following the floods in December 2015.   Many ideas have been put forward including the demolition of the octagon  which houses the Council Chamber and the re-figuration of the Customer Contact Centre with the Council meetings being held in the central atrium.   The Councillors gave their views and ideas and asked questions.   The meeting closed with an update by Councillor James Bainbridge on the proposed boundary review of Carlisle City Council land.

31st   An early meeting in Wetheral for my bi-annual dental check luckily no treatment was necessary.   In the evening I was present and chaired the meeting of the Wetheral Parish Council’s Planning Committee.   There were seven planning applications to be considered with five having observations made by the members and one tree application regarding a tree with a TPO restriction but which members could not see any reason for it to be felled.

2nd August   This evening the Executive of the Carlisle Conservative Party met at the Conservative Club, Spencer Street, Carlisle this was the first meeting since April and the May elections so there was much to discuss including the way forward.

3rd August   Another day and another meeting, this time it was the Policy Group of the Conservative Councillors on the City Council.   Following approval of the minutes of the previous meeting and noting the Executive  Decisions from their briefing on the 31st July we had an update on Conservative Policies for the future.   So an interesting few days.
